GRE Exam Registration

The most important thing that you can do preparing for the GRE exam is not stress out. A score in the 90th percentile is not required in most cases to get into graduate school. The GRE exam is only one part of your graduate school application.

(1) Begin by registering with the Sylvan Candidate Services Call Center @ 1-800-GRE-CALL

(2) Or pick up an application at your college counseling office and send in your application to:

Graduate Record Examinations

Educational Testing Service

P.O. Box 6020

Princeton, NJ 08541-6020

(3) You will receive your Authorization to Test in the mail.

(4) Then you will be eligible to set-up a testing date with a local testing center.

(5) Show up with all the required documents at the testing center for the GRE. If you are recently married with a name change, bring your marriage license. You may not need it, but if you did it could cause you to miss your testing time.

**The testing center will require at least 2 forms of identification to allow you to take the GRE test.

Don’t make the mistake of altering hair color or facial hair prior to the exam. Your picture has to match the application picture. In addition, bring a drink and some snack food for your testing break and wear layered clothing. Students that take the GRE in shorts and a tee shirt may find the testing center unbearable cold and be unable to concentrate.
