GRE Analytical Practice Essay Topics
Part I – GRE Issue Exploration
Defend, qualify, or refute one of the two topics presented in this section. You will have 45 minutes to complete this part of the writing examination. First, select a topic and then begin your essay. Use supporting examples and proper grammar to support your argument. You are only required to write on one topic. Once you have chosen a topic, you will not be allowed to switch topics. Choose carefully.
Topic 1 – "The simplest solution is almost always the best."
Topic 2 – "A bird in the hand is better than two in the bush."
Part II – GRE Argument Analysis
Analyze the following argument and determine the legitimacy of the present statements. Use examples and proper grammar to analyze the topic. Do not defend or denounce the following statements. You are only required to analyze the presented information. You have 30 minutes to complete this section of the analytical writing test.
Topic - " The number of Americans volunteering for humanitarian purposes outside of the U.S. has only slightly increased in the last few years. These numbers are down because Americans are spending more money on home improvement and consumer confidence has decreased. The volunteer numbers of Americans working overseas will increase once the American economy gets back on track."
